Objective of the Care Process Model
The objectives of the gastric sleeve ERAS program are to promote overall healing from surgery, decrease opioid pain medicine use and side effects by using regional anesthesia, advance diet faster and speed up return of bowel function, and decrease length of hospitalization.
Target Users
Anesthesiologists; Bariatric surgeons; Pre-Anesthesia testing nurse; Post Anesthesia Care nurses; Inpatient floor nurses
Clinical Questions Care Process Model
• Ketorolac in gastric bypass patients and risk of bleeding
• Use of Transverse Abdominal Plane (TAP) blocks and reduction of pain in lap gastric bypass patients
