Description
Elizabeth Martin was the administrator for Children's Mercy Hospital from 1936-1955. Trained as a nurse before becoming an administrator she was known for caring for patients while also attending to hospital business. She kept the hospital running through the Great Depression and World War II. She started the beginning stages of transition for the hospital in the early 1950s before she left in 1955.
