Alice Berry Graham is credited by her sister as the founder of Children's Mercy Hospital. Alice and Katharine Berry Richardson founded the hospital together in 1897. She was trained as a dentist; however, from the founding of the hospital until 1911 Alice was responsible for the administration and fundraising for Children's Mercy. She published The Messenger as a way to communicate hospital matters to the citizens of Kansas City. She passed away in 1913 after a long battle with cancer.
