Abstract

Pediatric orthopedic urgent care centers (POUCCs) enhance value via an innovative care model that delivers timely, cost-effective, and specialized musculoskeletal treatment outside the traditional emergency department. These centers efficiently manage isolated fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries and reduce wait times. Through effective triage protocols, strategic staffing, available imaging, and close coordination with surgical teams and sports medicine specialists, POUCCs offer a high-value care pathway for pediatric musculoskeletal injuries. This chapter examines the core components of value-based care in this setting and outlines strategies to enhance efficiency, lower costs, improve clinical outcomes, and increase patient satisfaction.
