Abstract

As costs of medical care continue to rise, optimizing value becomes increasingly important. Reducing the expense of surgical implants is one method to enhance value without compromising outcomes. In many pediatric orthopedic surgical cases, less expensive implants, such as Kirschner wires (K-wires), can be utilized to provide excellent fixation at a lower cost.
