CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

We are pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the 2026 Research Showcase. All compelling scientific research and quality improvement projects from CM researchers will be considered for presentation.

Note for projects financially supported by GME:
GME expects all trainees who have received financial support for a project from CM to participate. Residents and Fellows will be considered for a GME oral presentation; all others will be considered for poster presentations.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
  • The deadline for submission is Monday, February 9, 2026, at 5:00pm. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Abstracts should be submitted by the presenting author.
  • Abstracts must be submitted using the template appropriate for the project.
    • For those submitting a research-based abstract please use the Research Abstract Template.
    • For those submitting a QI-based abstract please use the QI Abstract Template.
    • Case reports should use the Research Abstract Template. Case reports will be accepted for presentation in poster format at the discretion of the Research Showcase Committee.
  • Abstracts are limited to 500 words.
  • Do not include figures or tables in your abstract submissions as these will not be considered during abstract scoring.
SELECTION FOR PRESENTATION AND SCHEDULE
  • Abstracts will be scored and selected based on a rubric evaluating scientific merit and quality of work.
  • Notification of acceptance and presentation date/time details will be sent out to participants mid-March.
GME Featured Presentations - May 11-15, 2026, 12:00pm-1:00pm each day, CM Main Auditorium
  • The top 20 scoring GME abstracts will be presented as platform oral presentations.
    • The top 4 scoring QI abstracts will be presented on Monday, May 11, 2026.
  • A PowerPoint template will be provided to the presenting author upon notification of selection as a platform presentation. This format is expected to be used.
  • Platform presentations must be presented by the submitting trainee author.
  • The GME Awards Ceremony on June 8, 2026 will include recognition of the following:
    • Highest scoring Research and QI platform presentations will receive recognition and a monetary award.
    • Each GME trainee presenting a poster or platform presentation will receive a Certificate of Participation
    • The Primary Mentor for each submitted abstract will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.
Poster Presentations - May 19-21, 2026, 11:00 am-1:00pm each day, Garden Level in CMRI
  • Poster requirements:
  • Poster session details:
    • Participants will receive an email prior to the event from the Research Showcase Committee with their assigned time and poster board number.
    • Poster session participants are expected to stand by their poster during an assigned 1-hour time slot.
    • Participants should hang their posters on their assigned poster board the morning of their assigned day, and take down by the end of that day. Tacks will be provided.
    • A judge will approach each participant during their assigned time to score their poster and presentation.
  • Highest scoring poster presentations will receive recognition and a monetary award at the Research Month Closing Celebration on May 28, 2026.
SHARE - DIGITAL ARCHIVE OF RESEARCH SHOWCASE PRESENTATIONS
  • SHARE, CM’s Institutional Repository, is a service provided by CM Library Services with the mission of collecting and preserving the life cycle of research at CM. With this aim, SHARE archives and provides digital access to Research Showcase abstracts and presentations.
  • Participants are able to determine what information is archived and who has access to it.
  • Participants submitting an abstract that has been financially supported by GME are required to include a full text PDF of their poster/presentation.
  • All other participants are highly encouraged but not required to submit a PDF of their poster.
